HELEN BERNSTEIN HS | Chino Hills, CA
Located at the busy and very visible convergence of Sunset Boulevard and Highway 101, this new campus sits at the gateway to the Hollywood / Sunset Strip corridor. Located on a former television studio site, the campus’ 12+ acres provide community green space and a safe, engaging learning environment. The school’s design reflects LAUSD’s varied educational program, and opens up shared community-use buildings, such as the Library and Theater, to the surrounding urban neighborhood. The six-story construction stacks three floors of classrooms above a base of public spaces and a parking garage. The public areas frame a raised outdoor gathering area – the heart of the campus. Helen Bernstein HS accommodates more than 2,600 students, including a continuation school. Each of the school’s floors houses a flexible space for Small Learning Communities.
