AURORA UNIVERSITY – INSTITUTE FOR COLLABORATION IN EDUCATION | Aurora, IL

Our Process

Uniquely linked in this partnership are new construction projects at Aurora University’s School of Education and on District 129’s elementary and middle school campuses. This trailblazing approach provides cross-learning and teaching opportunities for University teachers, student teachers, elementary and middle school teachers, and District 129 students. At District sites Herget MS, Greenman ES and Fearn ES, the campuses have become satellite sites for Aurora University’s School of Education – teaching laboratories for District teachers and AU education majors. On the Aurora University campus, university and elementary classrooms are clustered to create Small Learning Communities. Each SLC faces the ‘Learning Atrium’ — an open, 3-story environment filled with diverse learning activities, a central stairway, overlooks, and social gathering / flexible-use spaces. This project was completed with local associate firm, Cordogan, Clark & associates, Inc.
